NextStep FCU: For all the adventures ahead

NextStep FCU BillboardPOSTMKTG proudly presents NextStep, our from-the-ground-up rebranding of School Services Federal Credit Union. Everything, from research and strategy, to name, logo, and tagline, to website and app, signage, and all the collateral bits that make up a financial institution, all done in 10-months.

NextStep provides an excellent demonstration of the competitive advantages smaller, swifter businesses now have relative to their bigger and always more bureaucratic competitors.

Cherry Hill: A website of historic significance

Historic Cherry Hill is a treasure that has served both as a living museum and a center for research for more than 60 years. Infamous as the site of a brutal crime of passion, the 1827 murder of John Whipple by hired hand Jesse Strang who hoped to continue his affair with John’s wife, Elsie, the 65,000 artifacts housed at the museum have been put to work by scholars and archivists to tell a complex story of a proud family who were often in debt, anxious about social standing, and fearful of a changing world.

Cherry Hill murders it!

This isn’t a big marketing story, just a good example of how easy it is for a business, school, or nonprofit to promote itself when it has a well-designed and easily managed website and a good collaborative marketing partner. Historic Cherry Hill’s traditional October event series, spooky tours of the infamous 1827 murder at the mansion, sold out (and then some) during its final week (October 22-25).

History

Things were changing fast in 2012, the year POSTMKTG was founded.

The shift from traditional media to targeted media and search meant new opportunities were opening for startups, specialized businesses, and brands with big social networks but limited advertising budgets, like educational institutions, health care services, and nonprofits. A lot of work was shifting in-house. Social connections seemed a great untapped asset.

POSTMKTG is honored by the trust ACCS placed in us to promote this fine institution’s success. In the seven years we worked together, POSTMKTG helped empower not only the school’s administration, but also faculty, staff, parents, and caregivers, and, critically, political supporters seeking evidence that an experiment like an urban charter school can have a positive impact on students and the community that surrounds them, including traditional public school options.

Yes, we said, an industrial manufacturing company of just 19 employees could, given the new search and targeted media-centric marketing landscape, compete head to head with the giants of its industry, companies 100, or even 1000 times its size. The secret, we said, was UST’s focus, its specialization.
