Should you choose to accept it …

UPDATE: BronationDay ’26 set a new record for most donations received during the event, 662, or 3 more than it received the previous year. That it raised $134,135 for the school in 16 hours might be mentioned as well!

Fans of 1940s moody horror films might know the story of Val Lewton. Hired by RKO to help firm up the finances of the small-by-comparison studio, Lewton was given the mission to follow Universal’s monster movie successes. In trade for a free hand in script and production, Lewton was required to deliver his films on tiny budgets under titles picked by the studio for their exploitability, titles like Cat People and I Walked with a Zombie. RKO wanted to make a buck. What they didn’t expect was that Lewton, under the studio’s restrictions, would make bucks and make classics.

Though few creative directors will admit it, the best work often emerges when constraints are placed.

For BronationDay ’26, POSTMKTG’s ninth annual on behalf of CBA, the client had restrictions: a more limited budget than what had been assigned in previous years (the school had just invested in a very successful gala), less upset during production as the event would fall on a heavy testing week, a very limited production window (4 days!) due to the principal’s abscense, and the requirement to use a “pre-tested” event title – “One Day. One Mission. Brothers Give Back.” In addition, unlike previous years, which set as fundraising targets big items like a turf field, a lecture hall upgrade, a dome, and a quarter-million-dollar match, BronationDay ’26 would be a more sober affair, less competition, more community-building.

Enter the solution: team contributions, a little AI, and Mr. Phelps.

Obvious in hindsight, the “One Mission” bit in the title unlocked the creative … to play against the 60’s TV show and contemporary franchise, Mission Impossible. But how could we pull that off in just a few days? Well, first, our voice talent freelanced a bit with a processed audition that filtered his voice through a small reel-to-reel tape player. And second, our videographer dove into an update to his editing suite that had landed literally the day before.

The countdown has begun. As of this writing, BronationDay ’26 is 2 days away. 600 total donations is our target. Will we pull it off? Stay tuned!
